But a number of people at work know that I go in and do yoga at the "ass-crack" of dawn (thank you, Boodi) most workdays. So one of them tells me that she's been doing yoga off and on for two years and wanted to show me her poses. She complains that her heels don't go down in downward dog and asks me why. I tell her to lay off the high heels and show her a calf stretch against the wall. She can barely do it, but I tell her that she should do this every day so that her calves will lengthen and she'll be able to rest her heels on the floor.
She shows me some of her other poses and before you know it though, we're both doing a yoga show-down in the office. She's in black pants and a sensible top, but I'm in a suit about to leave the office for an appointment. She encourages me further by saying that I should teach yoga. Cringe. I'm surprised I didn't rip my pants as I did garudasana and eka pada bakasana. Luckily, no one else walked by to see what the hell was going on.

I think the "ass crack" belongs to Boodiba.
I love the idea of people doing yoga in business clothes -- I'll have to give it a go at work...
Ah, thanks for the correction. I shall fix it right away. my apologies.
I've been known to occasionally strike a pose at the office but it's usually something tame like ardha chandrasana. Should I try it now? Am in a suit and heels!
I missed you! Nice to see you back.
Ardha chandrasana is what I do at work -- pops my sacrum every time! I just swoop in and swoop out, to get the pop. People are (kind of) used to seeing me do it.
DZM, isn't it fun? I always feel happy and joyful when I do that pose.
Hi, Armani:
I started teaching a free yoga class at my work two and a half years ago and I still think this is my most rewarding class. I highly recommend it; besides, we all could use the karma points, right!
Your pictures from the safari are wonderful, thank you for posting them.
Annabella & Donuts: Thanks! How fun! You're less bashful than I am. Also, what caught me off guard was that the simplest poses like downward dog and bakasana impressed my co-worker.
Alfia: Thanks for the boost! I have a feeling that I might have to prepare myself to do a spontaneous class. It could be fun. I hope no one farts.
Show her supta kurmasana next, Armani. That seems to be the biggest crowd pleaser in primary series.
And yes, Anna, AC is the most cheerful pose ever.
Okay thanks for making me laugh. I once did a headstand in the middle of the ABC News newsroom on a dare from an editor colleague :) Thankful that the only place I do headstands now is in Mysore practice and home! LOL!
Oh, headstands! I forgot that. I have been known to pop into headstands in the most unlikely of places.
ABC news - headstands are a definite roar. I approve.
if you did split your pants, you would be like spongebob in his 'ripped pants' episode. pull out one of those eka pada bakasanas. that'll shut her up
Hi Armani
Wow, that is a very funny experience. It is so nice to have a colleague that shares your interest. I have one in my present company as well. She gave me a beautiful OM pendant in silver that I wear daily (she wears hers daily as well.) We haven't done asanas in the office, though. Mostly we talk about when our practice was good or when we're feeling blue because we didn't get to practice.
Eka Pada S. in a suit reminds me of that calendar from Hong Kong of the teacher doing Dwi Pada in a suit while waiting to be served at a restaurant, or doing durvasana in a suit while standing in the subway, or headstand with the head in the sand...
cheers,
arturo
look what a retard i am. i didn't even read your whole post, where you said you did eka pada b. sorry. bad blog fan
donuts: supta k is definitely a showstopper. unfortunately i have to be super warmed up and sweaty before i do that pose.
a bhakti: welcome! I love you back!
arturo: do u remember the name of the company putting out the calendar? I was looking for pics of it a while back.
laks: np, i'm also a skimmer from the evelyn woods school of speed skimming.
